THIS IS A VERY NICE ENGINE FOR YOUR 1970 CHEVELLE OR EL CAMINO, OR CORVETTE 454 APPLICATION. THIS ENGINE HAS THE CORRECT HEIGHT INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR CHEVELLE AND ELCAMINO FACTORY HOOD AND TO WORK WITH FACTORY AIR CLEANER AND/OR THE FACTORY COWL INDUCTION FLAPPER SYSTEM. IMPORTANT: OTHER INTAKE MANIFOLDS DO NOT WORK IN 1970 CHEVELLES AND EL CAMINOS WITH STOCK HOOD AND AIR CLEANER SYSTEMS. THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE AS EXPENSIVE AS THESE CARS HAVE GOTTEN THE BIG DOLLAR BUYERS/COLLECTORS WANT TO SEE THE CORRECT FACTORY AIR CLEANER, HOOD, AND COWL SYSTEMS INTACT WHEN THEY POP THE HOOD!

CORVETTES ALSO REQUIRE SPECIAL INTAKE FOR THE BIG BLOCK ENGINE TO CLEAR THE HOOD AND ALLOW HOOD TO CLOSE WITHOUT HITTING THE AIR CLEANER. THIS ENGINE WOULD ALSO FIT CAMARO AND NOVA ETC BUT IS 454 NOT 396/402. 030 OVER SPEED PRO PISTONS, FORGED GM RODS, AND 4.000 STROKE GM CRANKSHAFT. THE ENGINE BLOCK IS 4-BOLT MAIN.

THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS MARKED WITH PART NUMBER 3963569 WITH FAMOUS WINTERS SNOWFLAKE MARKING AND ACCEPTS HOLLEY 4-BARREL DUAL FEED CARBURETOR OR EDELBROCK. NEW DEEP CHROME VALVE COVERS WITH FACTORY SPARKPLUG WIRE STANDS, "S"MARKED OIL FILL CAP, CORRECT "TR" MARKED VALVE COVER BOLTS AND HOLD DOWNS AND NEW PARAGON REPRODUCTION OF GM BIG BLOCK INTAKE BOLTS. NEW TONAWANDA VALVE COVER STICKER WAS APPLIED. THIS ENGINE HAS HAD CAMSHAFT BROKEN IN AND RINGS SEATED AND IS READY TO INSTALL. A MORE PUMP GAS FRIENDLY SKIRT COATED SPEED PRO PISTON WAS INSTALLED ALONG WITH A MORE STREETABLE CAMSHAFT THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE VALVE LASHING AND A CAM THAT MAKES MORE TORQUE AT LOWER RPM FOR A FASTER FEELING STREET CAR WITH BETTER VACCUM CHARACTERISTICS FOR BETTER FUNCTIONING POWER BRAKES. A CYLINDER HEAD WITH BETTER PORT VELOCITY WAS USED ALONG WITH HYDRAULIC LIFTERS --AVOIDING THE HASSLES AND MAINTENANCE OF SOLID LIFTERS.

THIS SAME ENGINE COMBINATION HAS BEEN TESTED IN ONE OF OUR OWN CHEVELLES AND IT IS A TORQUE MONSTER RIGHT OFF IDLE, RUNS EFFICIENTLY ON NORMAL PUMP GAS, AND IS VERY STREETABLE AVOIDING ALL THE RACE CAMSHAFT DRAMA. ENGINE IS AT TDC ON CYLINDER #1 READY TO DROP IN YOUR DISTRIBUTOR FOR QUICK INSTALLATION.

THE GM 4-BOLT ENGINE BLOCK USED IN THIS BUILD IS RATED BY GM TO 700HP GM PART NUMBER 19170538 WITH IMPROVED OILING, IMPROVED SEALING, GENERALLY THICKER CYLINDERS, AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS. HOWEVER, THIS ENGINE HAS BEEN TESTED AND IS ALREADY BROKEN IN AFTER FULL REBUILD.
